"FAIR FOR ART VIENNA 2023"

The selection of artworks presented at FAIRFORART-Vienna  juxtaposes brand new paintings by Maria Temnitschka, with their enigmatic to enraptured pictorial compositions, with Peter Dörflinger's stone sculptures and their aspects of reception that encourage further spatial thinking. A quasi-contrapuntal example of Herbert Golser's wooden deconstructions "taken from nature" can be found in the staircase of the assembly hall. Standing as a statement in itself and at the same time building a bridge to Peter Dörflinger's sculpture in the forecourt to Wollzeile (Dr Ignaz Seipelt Platz).

An emotional journey with Maria Temnitschka | Painting
and Peter Dörflinger | stone sculpture.

The brand-new pictorial compositions by Maria Temnitschka claim a completely new way of reading on closer inspection, while her signature style is highly recognisable. Temnitschka's current works are more enigmatic, often more enraptured, even spun, connoted. She calls this series of pictures "Plan B" - although  Plan B is usually seen as the secondary solution to a problem - as a necessity and a sign of flexibility! After all, Plan B is needed more than ever in the here and now, especially with regard to environmental and economic issues, for which new ideas  and visions are needed - if Plan A is no good.
In Temnitschka's pictures , Plan B  comes into play after her penultimate cycle ("Scrap", 2021/22) - pictorial elements are reworked, quasi recycled - new thoughts are introduced and processed!
Exciting and it saves the original idea!

In addition, Peter Dörflinger's stone sculptures complement and open up further spatial thinking, as a kind of visionary tangent to Maria Temnitschka's spatial works. The spatial situations that open up in the worked stone when viewed from a circular perspective are created by hollowing out and chiselling away; "... I work after the stone, hollow it out and create sweeping, self-contained lines. This also reinforces the impression of seemingly playful lightness. By adding ponderation to the smaller stone works, balancing on a point, these objects appear almost weightless in their mobility.
The stone blocks, mostly from local regions, are polished smooth or remain rough, structured by chisel strokes!
